Blazers MVB Find their Missing Piece

The CMU Men's Volleyball program is very pleased to announce the commitment of Michael Hwang for the 2024-25 MCAC season. The Miles Mac Buckeyes, Bison Club, and Team Manitoba libero will look to help his new squad by providing consistent passing and digging out of the Blazers' backcourt.

Hwang serves as the final piece of the puzzle for Blazers head coach Don Dulder, as he completes the monumental task of replacing eight rostered players from last year's team, either graduated or not returning to the squad this fall. Hwang will replace outgoing libero Brock Carmichael, and is expected to be plugged directly into the starting lineup, completing the Blazers' young but talented turnaround team this coming season. Hwang, along with his new teammates will look to return to MCAC dominance but will have a tough task ahead of them overtaking the defending champions Pilots, who are expected to return a lineup as good or better than their 2023-24 team.

Where There's a Willms There's a Way

The CMU Men's Basketball program is very pleased to announce the commitment of Micah Willms for the 2024-25 MCAC and NIAC seasons. The Miles Mac and Atlas Club Basketball product will look to bring his blue-collar work ethic inside the paint to the Blazers this coming year.

Willms' basketball journey is not a typical one, as a late start in the sport had him walk on to his high school team for his grade eleven season. His Miles Mac coach Jonathan Janzen gave him a chance to prove himself, and that he did, rising from the last rostered player to earning himself an MHSAA "AAAA" Graduating All-Star selection this past spring. His Buckeyes were a top team in the KPAC Tier 1 zone both years of his high school play, reaching the provincial championships both seasons. This past season the team collected hardware in three tournaments, including bronze at the Vincent Massey Trojans Classic, a finals appearance at their home tournament the Buckeyes Classic, and a first-place finish at the Sturgeon Heights Tournament. His work on the boards had him lead the team in rebounding, and the team overall as one of the squad's captains.

The second signing of the offseason for Blazers Men's Basketball, Caden Osmack is in fact the second Caden to join the team this summer after coach Scott Martin recruited point guard Caden Tugade earlier in the break. Osmack will bring some height to the guard position, who at 6'2" is comfortable both at the point and as a shooting guard. The King George Secondary graduate comes out of a powerhouse Vancouver school, claiming the Vancouver City Championship, as well as the lower mainland zone title before falling just short in the British Columbia Provincial high school championships finals during his time as a Dragon. A Vancouver City All-Star in his junior year, Osmack also brought home hardware from numerous tournaments throughout his high school career.
