Two-Time Reigning MCAC and NIAC Player of the Year Briana Ehrmantraut Gets Professional Contract Looks in Tampa Showcase

CMU Women's Basketball's Briana Ehrmantraut may have just recently crossed the stage in her graduation ceremony in April, but the two-time reigning MCAC and NIAC Player of the Year is already looking at professional opportunities in Europe, following in the footsteps of some other recent Blazers alumni Shirliz Apiyo, Anna Pyne, and Julia Schatkowsky, who have all recently featured on professional club basketball rosters.

Ehrmantraut's latest opportunity came in early April following the Blazers' double-championship win, taking home the NIAC championship title for the second time in program history, and the MCAC title for the sixth time in seven seasons going back to the 2018 championship. Ehrmantraut was personally scouted by the organizer of the Eurobasket Women's Final Fours Showcase in Tampa Florida, who had her ranked in the top ten Canadian players based on her record-breaking season, and was one of only four Canadian players to attend the event, the rest being from NCAA Division I and II schools in the United States.

The event, centred around the NCAA Final Fours Basketball Championships in Florida, included a training session and a couple of exhibitions with videos and rankings compiled to increase exposure for graduating college athletes to be signed in leagues across Europe from Portugal to Armenia. "It was an amazing opportunity and a privilege to play alongside such high calibre players," states the recently graduated Ehrmantraut. After breaking the CMU scoring record (now set at 35 points) and record for most three-pointers in a game (set at 9) in a single game on January 17th, Ehrmantraut went on to win two conference player of the year awards, as well as the Athlete of the Year for women's sports for a second consecutive season, and is looking to build on that success by continuing her career now that she has completed her undergraduate studies.
