Nicholas Pavao: September's Zueike Male Athlete of the Month
Congratulations to Nicholas Pavao of Blazers Men's Soccer on being selected the CMU Zueike Male Athlete of the Month for September. The reigning MCAC Rookie of the Year has parlayed his success last year into his sophomore season, and has continued an electric scoring pace to start the season.
The 2025 MCAC All-Conference selection has been moved higher in the Blazers' formation this season with a number of impact midfielders coming into the fold, which has led to even more goals coming off the boot of the technically-gifted footballer. Through eight games in the 12-game schedule, Pavao has been scoring at a torrid pace, netting 11 goals, and leading in almost every offensive statistical category in the conference, including goals, assists, points, shots, and game-winning goals. Pavao has been in good company, co-leading the CCAA's men's soccer scoring race throughout September.

Blazers Women's Soccer Earn their First Points of the Campaign over Undefeated Rouges
Canadian Mennonite University played St. Boniface to a 0-0 tie on Wednesday at Ralph Cantafio Soccer Complex. St. Boniface entered the match with a perfect two-win record on the season, and CMU recorded the shutout despite an 11-5 shot advantage for Les Rouges, with four saves over 90 minutes.
CMU worked through a first-half stretch in which Les Rouges put together six attacking actions, including three shots and three corner kicks, without conceding. That sequence became an early part of the match's shape, with Les Rouges generating more total chances but CMU limiting the damage on the attempts that reached goal. CMU later created its own attacking spell, putting together three shots and two corner kicks across a four-minute stretch in the second half, including corner-kick chances that led to shot attempts.

Les Rouges Rain on Blazers Men's Soccer's Home Opener Parade
Canadian Mennonite University faced a challenging match against St. Boniface on Wednesday, resulting in a 2-0 loss, with both teams entering the contest boasting undefeated records to kick off the 2026/27 season. Despite their efforts, CMU was unable to reduce the deficit, even as they successfully defended against four St. Boniface attacking actions from 75:05 to 80:42 without conceding any additional goals while trailing by two.

2026/27 Men's Basketball Season Preview
Despite being upset on home court in the MCAC Finals last February, Blazers Men's Basketball picked themselves up and followed their tough loss in Manitoba with the program's first and only NIAC Championship Title. With the announcement that the Red River Rebels will be making their return since suspending athletics participation during the pandemic, all three existing MCAC basketball programs pulled out of the american conference to focus on play within Manitoba with an eye to CCAA competition in 2027/28.
