Blazers Women's Soccer Add to their Attack with Millan

The CMU Women's Soccer program is very pleased to announce the commitment of Juliana Millan for the 2024-25 MCAC season. The Colombian-born forward is excited to get back on the pitch with the Blazers after two years of study at the University of Manitoba.

A graduate of Glenlawn Collegiate in 2022, Millan featured on her varsity Lions team from her grade nine year all the way through to her graduating year, co-captaining the squad for her final two years there. The left-footed striker or left winger was a force to be reckoned with on the attacking side of the ball during the short high school season. A multi-sport athlete, Millan also played volleyball and badminton while at Glenlawn, making her both proficient on the turf as well as the court.

From the Raiders to the Blazers: Women's Basketball Sign Local Forward

The CMU Women's Basketball program is very pleased to announce the commitment of Abby Morydz for the 2024-25 MCAC and NIAC seasons. The Oak Park and Magic Club product will lend her grit and hard-working attitude down low for the Blazers for the upcoming year.

Morydz joins the Blazers after making a positive showing at the team's ID camp earlier this spring, and looks to be a player whose nose-to-the-grindstone outlook will help her develop even further under the Blazers' new head coach Sharlene Harding. An MHSAA 'AAAA' Provincials berth in the 2022-23 high school season with her Oak Park Raiders was a great experience for the young varsity student-athlete at the time, helping her see the top level of competition and talent in Manitoba. This past January the Raiders travelled to Edmonton for a tournament after the Christmas break, where she got to see more top talent from Alberta, including Raymond Academy's Delaney Gibb, a member of Team Canada's U19 squad. Named player of the game on multiple occasions during her high school career, including at the Sisler Spartan Classic, the Miles Mac Buckeye Classic, and the Sturgeon Heights Girls Tournament, Morydz is looking to build on her past success and bring her game to the next level at CMU.

The CMU Women's Soccer program is very pleased to announce the commitment of Muneet and Summet Brar for the 2024-25 MCAC season. The Kildonan East and Phoenix Club products will patrol both ends of the pitch with Muneet on the backline and Sumeet at striker once the season kicks off in September.

Graduates of Kildonan East Collegiate in 2022, both Brars have spent their year since graduating studying at the University of Manitoba but have made the decision to transfer to CMU to continue their post-secondary education to play under the Blazers new head coach, Jason Moist. While they both suited up for their high school Reivers squad in the KPAC zone of MHSAA's "AAAA" division, it was the club scene where the duo really saw their game blossom.

Haley Makes a Return to CCAA Volleyball with Blazers

The CMU Women's Volleyball program is very pleased to announce the commitment of Haley Bickell for the 2024-25 MCAC season. After a stint with the Durham Lords of the OCAA out of high school, the veteran outside is returning to the court herself after a couple of years coaching club here in Manitoba.

Perhaps "The Comet" might be an appropriate new nickname for Haley Bickell, as she makes her long-awaited return to the court after a few years away from playing competitive collegiate volleyball. The Winnipeg native was a rising star coming out of her youth club career, but had her CCAA volleyball path disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic after only one full season of play. Now, the pull of playing again seems to be too big of a force to counteract, as she blazes a new trail with CMU women's volleyball.
