Trail of Honour

The Blazers Trail of Honour was developed as part of CMU's 25th anniversary programming to recognize student-athletes, coaches, and builders that have helped shape the Blazers Athletics program into what it is today, and will continue to induct new members as new trails are blazed in CMU sporting endeavours.

Evelyn Kampen

Inducted February 7, 2025

The first inductee into the Blazers Trail of Honour was former student-athlete, head coach, and strength and conditioning coach Evelyn Kampen. A special athlete in her time at CMU, Kampen made her move back to CMU from Trinity Western, where she featured on the Spartans USports Women's Volleyball roster. After dominating the MCAC for three seasons, and graduating from CMU, Kampen went on to play professionally in Germany and Denmark before returning to Winnipeg where she head coached the Blazers for three seasons, capturing an MCAC title in 2016/17. After leaving the Blazers to pursue her personal training certification, Evelyn returned once more for the 2024/25 season as the women's volleyball program strength and conditioning coach. Evelyn passed away on February 13, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer, leaving an indelible mark on the Blazers Athletics program.

Vaughn Rempel Snider

Inducted November 22, 2025

A former student-athlete at one of CMU's predecessor colleges, CMBC, Vaughn Rempel Snider was a standout local athlete in her time, making the move from the University of Winnipeg Wesmen, where she won a CIS Women's Volleyball National Championship to lead the team here at CMBC's Shaftesbury campus. Vaughn was instrumental in the early days of CMU as the Assistant Athletics Director, helping shape the program, including pioneering its summer sports camps. As a coach, Vaughn built the women's volleyball program into a perennial contender, and was a major architect of the team's success in their run of titles between 2005 and 2010.

Don Dulder

Inducted November 22, 2025

Don Dulder joined the CMU Blazers ranks in 2014, already a legend in the local coaching scene. After amassing eight AA Championship titles with Niverville Collegiate, as well as the 2013 18U Club boys National title with Winnipeg's Winman Volleyball Club, Dulder turned his focus to the university level, where he continued his success story. After building the program up, Dulder and the Blazers captured their first MCAC Championship under his tenure in 2017, and added titles in 2018, 2020, and 2022, earning CMU the first ever berth in a CCAA National Championships for men's volleyball that season. Dulder retired after 11 seasons with the program after the 2024/25 season, having earned nearly every award for coaching at the provincial level, including the 2013 MVA Coach of the Year, and was inducted into the Manitoba Volleyball Hall of Fame during his time with CMU in 2022.

Joe DiCurzio

Inducted January 31, 2026

A legend in the basketball scene in Manitoba and beyond, Joe DiCurzio joined CMU's ranks in 2013, and immediately started work turning around a struggling program into a perennial powerhouse. It took five years for "coach Joe" to get the team to the top of the MCAC, winning his first championship as a Blazer in 2018, and the first for the program since the 2006/07 season. The head coach continued churning out title after title, ending with five consecutive Manitoba championships from 2018 to 2023 (there was no championship in 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic), as well as the school's first NIAC Championship title in 2020. DiCurzio received many personal awards throughout his time at CMU as well as the 2020 Basketball Manitoba Coach of the Year for the women's/girls category, and in 2024 was inducted into the Manitoba Basketball Hall of Fame as a builder.

Curt Warkentin

Inducted January 31, 2026
