Conferences

Beginning in 2008, CMU is a founding member of the Manitoba College Athletic Conference in the sports of men's and women's basketball, soccer, futsal, and volleyball.

The MCAC is made up of the following five member universities and colleges in Manitoba:

  • Assiniboine Community College Cougars
  • Brandon University Bobcats
  • Canadian Mennonite University Blazers
  • Providence University College Pilots
  • Universite de St-Boniface Les Rouges
 

Since 2016, CMU is also a member of the Northern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in the sports of women's and men's basketball.

NIAC Logo

The NIAC is made up of the following ten member universities and colleges in Manitoba, Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota:

  • Association Free Lutheran Bible School Conquerors
  • Canadian Mennonite University Blazers
  • Leech Lake Tribal College Lakers
  • Nueta Hidatsa Sahnish College Storm
  • Oak Hills Christian College Wolfpack
  • Providence University College Pilots
  • Sisseton-Wahpeton College Mustangs
  • Trinity Bible College Lions
  • Turtle Mountain Community College Mighty Mickinocks

In 2019 the CMU along with the MCAC was accepted into the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) in the sports of soccer and volleyball.  The CCAA is a Canada-wide association including member conferences from British Columbia (PacWest), Alberta (ACAC), Manitoba (MCAC), Ontario (OCAA), Quebec (RSEQ), and the Atlantic Provinces (ACAA).

After two years of probationary membership, the MCAC sent its first representatives to the National Championships in the 2021-2022 season, which included Blazers men's volleyball as the first ever team to represent Manitoba in the sport of men's volleyball, and CMU's first ever delegation to a National Championship.

As a governing body of intercollegiate sport in Canada, the CCAA holds its member conferences and affiliated institutions to follow the vision, mission, values, and principles of the association.
