The CMU Women's Basketball program is very pleased to announce the commitment of Caeli Palmer for the 2024-25 MCAC and NIAC seasons. The Garden City Collegiate and Attack Basketball product will bring her well-rounded and versatile game to the Blazers next fall.
Playing for a perennial championship contender in the powerhouse Garden City program, Palmer has enjoyed a very successful high school basketball career that saw her Gophers team take home the MHSAA "AAAA" Provincial Championship Title to cap off her junior varsity years, then followed it up with two finals appearances in her grade eleven and twelve seasons. The team entered four tournaments leading up to the provincial championships and made the final in all four weekends, including three championships wins at the Pembina Trails Bisons Classic, the St Mary's Invitational, and the Marples Varsity Girls tournament. The one tournament the Gophers were bested in the final, the St Vital Invitational, Palmer was named a tournament All-Star. She also featured on the Garden City volleyball team as a middle, the school soccer team, and on the track and field squad as a pentathlete. It comes as no surprise then that Palmer is as versatile on the basketball court as she is an all-around athlete, able to slot in down low or on the perimeter as needed.

Playing both at middle and left side throughout the high school season, Deer led the Lions to an MHSAA "AAAA" Provincials Final Fours appearance as co-captain, the first time that Glenlawn has reached the provincial semi final in over twenty years. The team was successful throughout the year, featuring in the final in the University of Winnipeg Invitational, Men's St Vital Invitational, and DMCI Varsity Boys Tournament prior to the ultimate Manitoba championship. Deer was named MHSAA Graduating All-Star for his impact during the season, and parlayed his improvement over the year and experience playing in plenty of big-game situations into a promotion to the top 204 Gold team for his final year of club eligibility. Also a member of Glenlawn's varsity hockey and basketball teams, Deer works on his all-around athleticism over the entire year. The CMU Men's Volleyball program is very pleased to announce the commitment of Xavier Folkerts for the 2024-25 MCAC season. The Vincent Massey Brandon and Brandon Volleyball Club product is the latest addition to the program coming out of Western Manitoba.
A star on his MHSAA "AA" Elton Collegiate squad in his grade ten year, Folkerts drew onto the varsity squad that year as well. As a captain of his junior varsity team he led the Sabres to the Provincial Championships, where he was named a tournament All-Star, while his varsity squad saw considerable success throughout the season, making three tournament finals and capturing one title en route to a Provincial Championship berth. For his true varsity seasons Folkerts played for Vincent Massey High School in Brandon, qualifying for "AAAA" provincials in his grade eleven season, and then following up with more big-game experience this past fall season, when his grade twelve squad qualified for provincials again after wins at the Husky Classic and Brandon University Invitational tournaments. Folkerts played the full range of attacking positions with his high school teams, but feels most at home on the left side. Aside from volleyball, Folkerts also competes at high jump with the Vikings, as he continues his vertical training off the court for the track and field season as well.
