Men's Volleyball Jumps To Saskatchewan To Sign Martens

Markus Martens is eager to get back on the court. After missing his senior season of high school volleyball to the nationwide pandemic restrictions, the athletic leaper has signed his letter of intent to join the CMU Blazers for the 2021-22 MCAC season.

Don Dulder has high hopes for the middle attacker; "We have graduated a few of the middles that have been with our program for quite a few years, both last year and coming up this spring," said the veteran CMU head coach. "Markus has the athleticism and talent to contribute in a big way and could step right into our regular rotation next season."

One For The Future; Women's Soccer Welcomes First Recruit For 2022-23

The CMU women's soccer coaching staff has not only turned their focus and attention to September 2021, excitement about future opportunities to compete on a national stage has Lianna Bestvater and Cara Isaak looking to create a program that can consistently challenge for championship trophies in Manitoba and beyond.

One piece of that future puzzle will be recent-commit, Baillee Wiebe; a brave, confident goalkeeper from the Hanover Fusion soccer club. Currently a Grade 11 student at Steinbach Regional Secondary, Wiebe competes with her club team in the Winnipeg Youth Soccer Association (WYSA) where she helped Fusion to a second-place finish in the 2020 season and added a 2nd place finish in the Golden Boy Tournament last summer.

Members of the women's volleyball, basketball and soccer programs began October by spending three days on campus in Marpeck Commons, requesting donations of hygiene products in support of Winnipeg's North End Women's Centre (NEWC).
