Graduate Profile: Carter Hofer, Men's Volleyball

Carter Hofer has left a significant impact on the CMU Men's Volleyball program over four years. Beyond helping the Blazers to two MCAC Championships and receiving many accolades along the way, the graduate of Linden Christian School and product of Winman Volleyball Club, has been an exemplary leader on and off the court.

Hofer has been recognized by CMU Athletics with Rookie of the Year honours (2017-18) and was twice named the Men's Volleyball Player of the Year (2018-19, 19-20). The 6'3 left side was selected to the All-Conference team (2019-20) and was named Championship MVP (2019-20) by the MCAC and finally, the CCAA recognized Hofer as a 2019-20 Academic All-Canadian and 2019-20 National Scholar Athlete.

New Men's Volleyball Signing Has Versatility in Spades

Don Dulder continues to strengthen his squad prior to the 2021-22 MCAC men's volleyball season by announcing the commitment of Westgate Mennonite Collegiate libero, David Nelson. Dulder is really happy to add another outstanding defender and a player who the veteran head coach noted, "has a strong understanding of what's going on around him because of the experience he has had playing all over the court in high school and club."

It's A 'Family-First' Decision For New Men's Volleyball Signing

When Luke Janzen steps on the volleyball court next fall he will by joining many familiar faces in the 2021 recruiting class from his days as a high school and club volleyball player while also keeping a bit of a family legacy going at CMU.

A versatile 6'0 left-side who was selected Male Athlete of the Year by his Winnipeg high school, Linden Christian in 2019 and 2020, Janzen helped the Wings to a 'AAAA' Junior Varsity provincial berth and a bronze-medal finish in 2018.

Big Possibilities For CMU's Newest Men's Volleyball Recruit

"He is on the verge of putting it all together," was CMU head coach Don Dulder's comments when asked about his recent signing, Joel Heppner. The Kelvin High School and 204 Volleyball Club player comes with all the tools necessary for him to eventually become a dominant opposite-hitter in the MCAC and the CCAA.

"Joel is a hard worker and as a lot of our players are, has a team-first attitude," added Dulder. "In quoting Joel's club coach, Jared Brown, 'Joel has been improving rapidly lately and with a bit more training, he can develop into an extremely good player'. Being left-handed and standing 6'4, Joel has the physical tools to really hurt an opponent from right-side."

Men's Volleyball Grows Adding Three From Across The Province

CMU head coach Don Dulder announced the commitments of a trio of additions to the Blazers Men's Volleyball program this week as the team embarks on their first competitive season in the MCAC that includes a CCAA National Championship berth for the Manitoba provincial champions. The three newest Blazers hail from across Manitoba; Morris High School's, Bryce Neustater, Treherne Collegiate Institute's, Quinton Lawson-Haddock and Shaftesbury High School's, Stephen Ingram.
