The CMU Women's Soccer program is very pleased to announce the commitment of Juliana Marucci for the 2022-23 MCAC season. The local Oak Park High product comes to CMU with a wealth of experience at the club and high school varsity levels in Manitoba.
Marucci is currently keeping herself busy with her Oak Park High School team, which competes in the Winnipeg High School Indoor League. The Raiders are sitting in second place in the top Premiership tier, with an undefeated 6-0-2 record heading into the playoff round which is set to begin in January. Congratulations to Tiegan Kroeker of Women's Soccer on being selected the CMU Zueike Female Athlete of the Month for October. The third year captain of the Blazers played a pivotal role in CMU's playoff push down the home stretch of the season.
Kroeker displays a calming but confident presence on the field, especially for her teammates who can play ahead of her on the pitch knowing they have one of the league's standout defenders shutting down the opposition's scoring chances. "Tiegan is such an impactful player because she's able to cove a huge area of the field due to her speed and fitness and she rarely loses 50/50 battles" noted co-head coach of women's soccer, Cara Isaak, regarding the play of their captain. The ability to turn 50/50 chances in the team's favour is certainly something every team desires in their top defenders, and Kroeker displayed that ability in spades, often being called upon to cover many of the league's top players.

The 2021 MCAC Soccer Championship weekend is upon us, and the matchups are all set for the Provincial event, which will see the winners compete for a CCAA National Championship in November.
The Blazers women's soccer team comes in to the championship tournament as the fourth seed, and will matchup with the top team St Boniface Rouges in Saturday's semi-final. Despite the large difference in records between the two sides, CMU's squad has matched up quite well against Les Rouges throughout their three regular season meetings which included two close losses along with a a 1-1 draw at the Ralph Cantafio Soccer Complex in their first meeting. The Blazers have defended well against St Boniface's high-powered offence, allowing only six goals over their three matches.

Weeks five and six were busy ones for the Blazers women's and men's soccer teams, which started with a mid-week night game against the visiting Providence Pilots on October 6th, and then back-to-back Thankgiving weekend games that started on the road in Brandon, and finished at home on a rainy Sunday afternoon. This past weekend Blazers women's soccer had a rare Friday night matchup with Les Rouges which was a makeup date for the postponed Thanksgiving Sunday match, and then both teams then hit the road on Sunday for their final visit to Brandon prior to the upcoming MCAC Championships.
