Willms Steps Down From Men's Soccer Coaching Position After 10 Seasons

After a decade in charge of the Men's Soccer program at CMU, Russell Willms has announced that he will be stepping down from the position to focus more specifically on his role as Athletics Director.

Willms led the Blazers to MCAC Conference Championship Finals in 2008, 2009 and 2015. Men's Soccer topped all teams in the 2015 regular season, when they finished with a record of 7-1-2. On the futsal court, Willms had his greatest coaching success when he lead CMU to a Copa de la Paz Championship in 2015.

Rodriguez Enters As New CMU Women's Volleyball Head Coach

CMU Athletics would like to introduce Roy Rodriguez as the new Head Coach of the Women's Volleyball Program. Well established in the local volleyball community, Rodriguez has already gotten his coaching feet wet in the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Confererence for parts of five seasons. From 2008 to 2011, Rodriguez was part of the Red River Rebels men's coaching staff, working under head coach Dan Gilbert and current Queen's University Women's Volleyball Head Coach Ryan Ratushniak, former Red River Athletics Director. For the next two seasons, Rodriguez would join the Rebels women's coaching staff. In 2014, Rodriguez had a brief stint as an assistant coach with CMU, under former Blazers Head Coach Joe Moore.

Calgary's Levi Klassen Signs Letter Of Intent With Men's Volleyball

With plenty of options to choose from, the CMU Men's Volleyball program is very happy to have the commitment of Calgary Christian's Levi Klassen for the 2018-19 MCAC season. The backrow specialist was one of two 18u boys from the Calgary Canuck Volleyball Club to wrap up their club career be receiving the Saxton Scholarship, awarded to a club player who has excelled in academic average, community service and on-court performance during their years of service.

Niverville 'AA' Basketball Scoring Star Commits To CMU Blazers

CMU Men's Basketball is very excited to welcome the 2018 Manitoba High School 'AA' Boys Provincial Most Valuable Player and 2018 'AA" Player of The Year, Keegan Beer to the program for the 2018-19 season. The 6'2 guard led the Niverville Panthers to their first Manitoba Boys Basketball banner in 41 years, scoring 33.7 points and adding 10 assists per game in his senior year. Beer was selected a tournament All-star at Tec-Voc and led the Panthers to tournament wins at Neepawa and Niverville's own John Kipe Classic.

Women's Basketball Signs Driven Gopher's Guard

CMU Women's Basketball is very happy to announce the signing of Garden City Collegiate's Samarah Fangmann for the 2018-19 season. The 5'7 shooting guard averaged 14.1 points and 8.9 rebounds per game in her senior year of high school basketball en route to a 'AAAA' Graduating All-star selection last March.
