Versatile Green Valley and Junior Bisons Star Signs With CMU Women's Volleyball

As volleyball club programs prepare to compete at the annual Volleyball Canada Club National Championships, CMU Women's Volleyball is happy to announce the commitment of Green Valley School and Junior Bisons product Vanessa Friesen for the 2018-19 MCAC Season.

The versatile 5'8 hitter from Grunthal helped her high school to their first ever 'AA' Girls Volleyball Provincial Championship last season, earning personal recongnition with the 2017 Player's Choice Award and later as a 'A-AAA' Graduating All-Star. Friesen featured mostly as a middle hitter in her Grade 12 season with the Pirates.

Two More Solid Additions Have Women's Soccer Very Optimistic About 2018

Women's Soccer continues to take shape for the upcoming 2018 Manitoba Colleges season with the addition of a pair of versatile midfielders; Tiegan Kroeker (left) and Susanna Derksen (right).

"Tiegan is an extremely fit and fast player," said CMU co-head coach Cara Isaak. "She is constantly moving off the ball and she makes great forward runs. Defensively, she incredibly tenacious and is a strong tackler."

Men's Basketball Adds Experience And Power With Venderbos Signing

CMU rookies rarely take on the shape of Men's Basketball's most recent signing Ty Venderbos. The 2012 Transcona Collegiate graduate, who describes himself as a "grinder" on the basketball court, is certain to be the kind of player that will make an impact on his new team.

Though never having an opportunity to compete for the 'AAAA' High School Championship at his Tier 2 high school, Venderbos was recognized in his senior year as the only Tier 2 player selected to participate in the KPAC All-Star Game.

Men's Soccer is thrilled to announce the commitment of Bonivital Soccer Club and Focus 9 Academy product, Will Anderson for the 2018 Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference Season.

"Will is a really valuable player to be bringing into our team," said head coach Russell Willms who just returned from the 2018 Futsal Canadian Championships in Kingston, Ontario where he, along with CMU players Stefan Schuler and Robbie Friesen who were representing Manitoba with Rovers Futsal Club. "Will is a well-balanced and tidy player. He can be plugged into a number of different places in our starting lineup and is versatile to perform in the midfield or in any fullback position. He has been part of winning teams at Fort Richmond Collegiate and Bonivital and he will help us build on our totals and expectations from the 2017 season."

Blazers' Futsallers Off To Canadian Club Nationals With Rovers FC

After winning Manitoba's Inaugural Provincial Club Futsal Championship in January, Winnipeg's Rovers Futsal Club are about to become part of history as their province's first representatives at the Canadian Club National Championships this weekend in Kingston, Ontario. The roster has strong connections to the Manitoba Colleges Athletics Conference as 11 of the 13 players are current or former players of the province's established league. Among those 11 are CMU's Robbie Friesen and Stefan Schuler.
