Scott Martin Named New Head Coach Of CMU Men's Basketball Program

CMU Athletics Director Russell Willms announced today that Scott Martin has been named the new head coach of the men's basketball program.

Success has followed Martin through twenty-seven years of coaching at the elite high school level at Winnipeg's Sisler High School where the recently retired teacher co-ordinated the Pre-Employment Program while teaching high school Business since 1991.

Men's Soccer Kicks Into Recruitment By Signing St. Charles Attacker

Fresh off a very successful 2018 MCAC Men's Soccer campain that saw the Blazers lift their first Conference Championship trophy since 2005, CMU has inked St. Charles Force Premier striker Solace Janzen Kornelsen for 2019-20 season.

"As speedy front-man, Solace has the speed and technical abilities to be an effective winger in our conference and also has the vision and passing-ability to allow him to contribute to the attack from a position behind the strikers," said former CMU head coach Russell Willms, who was involved in recruiting Janzen Kornelsen through his final years of youth soccer. "I believe Sol will be a valuable player for the program going forward."

Victor Hugo Gomes de Abreu, Ryan Jensen and CMU Men's Futsal Head Coach, Anderson Pereira are geared up and ready to represent Manitoba at the 2019 Futsal Canadian Championships, kicking off Thursday afternoon at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. After a Final Four finish in the 2019 MHSAA 'AAAA' Girls Championship with her River East Kodiaks, Morag de Koning has made her commitment with the CMU Blazers for 2019-20, taking her well-rounded high school skills into the Northern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

"it's really exciting to be getting a player like Morag, with such a high basketball IQ," said CMU head coach Joe Di Curzio. "Morag has played for many successful club and high school teams. She has developed an excellent skill set and performed extremely well while playing against top-notch competition. She is known as a knock-down 3-point shooter and has terrific leadership qualities and work habits. She's a great fit for our the culture of our program."

Dynamic Sturgeon Heights Defender Welcomed To 2019-20 CMU Roster

CMU Women's Basketball is very pleased to announce the commitment of Sturgeon Heights guard Kylie Karr for the 2019-20 NIAC and MCAC seasons. A self-proclaimed "late-bloomer", Karr didn't even pick up a basketball competitively in high school until Grade 9, but once she did the multi-sport athlete's trajectory has taken her and her Huskies team to new heights for the program.
