Isaac Steps Down As Men's Basketball Head Coach After Six Seasons

After six seasons at the helm of the Men's Basketball program at CMU, Billy Isaac has made a decision to step away from his position as Head Coach of the MCAC and NIAC program. Isaac led the Blazers to a record of 6-8 in 2018-19, good for fourth-place in the nine team NIAC Men's Basketball Division.
"It has been a privilege to coach at CMU," said Isaac. "But I think it's time for a change."

Matheus Moreno's go-ahead goal in the second minute of extra time gave Men's Futsal a 4-3 advantage on the third-ranked Providence Pilots as CMU went on to win their 2019 MCAC Copa de la Paz Semfinal to advance to their first Futsal Championship appearance since 2015.
Providence surprised the higher-ranked Blazers in the first half, jumping out to a 1-0 advantage when a kick-in deflected off CMU defender Ryan Jensen after the Pilots showed sustained pressure in the opening 25 minutes. The secret to the Pilots' success came from implimenting the risky tactic of "the flying goalkeeper", by pushing Jay Thielmann into the front-court, leaving the Providence goal unattended, in exchange for a 5 versus 4 numerical advantage.

It's a new position that Women's Futsal find themselves in. Veteran head coaches Cara Isaak and Lianna Bestvater know it and so do fifth-years Marijka Yaschyshyn and Camille Plett. The team itself have won back to back Championships, an MCAC Futsal victory twelve months ago and then an MCAC Soccer win last October. Saturday will mark the first step the Blazers will make in defending a trophy as they prepare for semifinal action in the 2019 Copa de la Paz.

Men's Volleyball is very happy to announce the addition of Vincent Massey High School's Josh Werbiski for the 2019-20 MCAC season. The 6'4 outside hitter will be the third in a trio of Vikings graduates to suit up for the Blazers next season joining the likes of fellow Brandonites, right side Brock Carmichael and libero Daniel Lysack.

Women's Basketball is very happy to announce the signing of Collége Jeanne-Sauvé and Manitoba Magic guard Anna Pyne for the 2019-20 NIAC season. Able to score to fill the stat sheet offensively, the 5'6 point guard cashed in an amazing career-high 62 points in one game in her Grade 11 season with the Olympiens and Pyne's high school coach, Sonia Radi believes that she can make a big impact for the Blazers next season.
