Jack Tyrrell Steps Up as New Era Begins for Men's Volleyball Program
Friday, May 9, 2025 @ 12:00 AM |
The CMU Men's Volleyball program is pleased to announce Jack Tyrrell the successor to longtime head coach Don Dulder, as the rising star in the local coaching scene proved his worth assisting Dulder in preparing the Blazers for their 2025 CCAA Nationals run.
Tyrrell has quickly moved up the ranks within the program, first as a player between 2017-2020 when his tenacity and game-sense were first noticed by the athletics staff. His well-rounded game as a player had him slot in throughout the lineup, including most frequently as libero and middle, two positions often considered polar opposites. Tyrrell's teams captured three championship titles during his four years as a student-athlete, including Dulder's first in 2017, then again in 2018 and 2020.

Long time men's volleyball head coach Don Dulder has decided to call it a career after enjoying many successes with the Blazers over his 11 years with CMU that saw the seasoned coach turn the program into a perennial powerhouse in the MCAC and beyond.
A local coaching legend in his own right prior to joining CMU in 2014, his coaching resume included eight provincial AA championships with Southern Manitoba's Niverville Collegiate. His Niverville teams were the only AA school to move up to the "AAAA" level eight years in a row, making the Final Fours twice. Don was the zone 13 MHSAA zone president for over 20 years while teaching and coaching at Niverville Collegiate. In 2009 he was selected as the MHSAA Coach of the year, and in 2006 he was inducted into the Manitoba Volleyball Honour Society.

Blazers Men's Soccer and Futsal Head Coach Anderson Pereira has made the tough decision to step back from the team and say his farewells after seven years at the helm of the program.
An instant success with the team, Pereira captured the program's first and only soccer title of the MCAC era in his first season in 2018, a special moment as both men's and women's Blazers squads came out on top that year. A noted futsal aficionado, Pereira's teams have been perennial contenders in the Copa de la Paz Futsal Championships, taking home the title most recently in 2020, and featuring in the finals several times during his tenure.
