Blazers Women's Soccer Earn their First Points of the Campaign over Undefeated Rouges
CMU's starters await kickoff in their home debut of 2026 on a cold and soggy night
Canadian Mennonite University played St. Boniface to a 0-0 tie on Wednesday at Ralph Cantafio Soccer Complex. St. Boniface entered the match with a perfect two-win record on the season, and CMU recorded the shutout despite an 11-5 shot advantage for Les Rouges, with four saves over 90 minutes.
CMU worked through a first-half stretch in which Les Rouges put together six attacking actions, including three shots and three corner kicks, without conceding. That sequence became an early part of the match's shape, with Les Rouges generating more total chances but CMU limiting the damage on the attempts that reached goal. CMU later created its own attacking spell, putting together three shots and two corner kicks across a four-minute stretch in the second half, including corner-kick chances that led to shot attempts.
Les Rouges finished with an 11-5 advantage in shots and a 4-2 edge in shots on goal, while CMU goalkeeper Mack Robillard made four saves in 90 minutes. CMU's shots on goal came from Maddie Blackmore and Cleo Reynolds, while Grace Moar added two total shots. Neither side was called for a penalty kick, and the game stayed relatively clean in the foul count, with CMU committing three fouls and Les Rouges four.
Les Rouges generated most of the first-half volume, outshooting CMU 7-1 and taking four corners to CMU's one. Robillard made two saves, and CMU came through a six-action Les Rouges stretch from 21:14 to 31:31 without conceding as the half ended 0-0.
The second half was even statistically, with CMU and Les Rouges each recording four shots and two shots on goal in a scoreless 45 minutes. CMU generated a four-minute stretch with two Noel Wiebe corner kicks and three shots, but the match finished 0-0.
Robillard played all 90 minutes in goal, made four saves and finished with a shutout. Robillard was named MCAC Player of the Game for CMU. Moar led CMU with two shots. Blackmore put her lone shot on goal. Reynolds also recorded one shot on goal.
CMU is 0-1-2 in conference play, while Les Rouges are now 2-1-0 in conference play.
