Congratulations to Mahamat Khamis of Blazers Men's Soccer on being selected the CMU Zueike Male Athlete of the Month for October. The sophomore scoring phenom was an unparalleled producer for CMU as the team hunted down home field advantage for MCAC Championships, then secured a second-consecutive title win.

Khamis built the season's success off an impressive rookie campaign in 2025, and was looking for more this year as the program's speedy striker. He finished the regular season second in the conference in goals (9), second in points, as well as top five in both assists and shots, helping lift the team to one of its most prolific scoring campaigns ever.

Looking at the stat sheets from the month, it's hard to take one performance from October above any others, as Khamis produced a string of seven-consecutive games in which he tallied at least a point, which included game-winning goals in three of those matches, including the all-important semifinal win that took the team into a home MCAC Final. The man they call "Mo Money" certainly had the Bobcats' number, as he helped secure points for CMU by scoring four goals over three matches against Brandon in the month, culminating in a MCAC semifinal Player of the Game.

"Mahamat 'Mo Money' Khamis stepped up when it matterd most, scoring twice in the semifinals to help us secure our place in the MCAC Finals" states Blazers Men's Soccer head coach Gode Katembo. "His performace showed the confidence and determination we ask of our players in championship moments. I'm proud of the impact he made for the team, and he fully deserved this Athlete of the Month recognition."

With the MCAC Championship Title defended, Mahamat and his teammates now prepare for the CCAA National Championships, hosted this year by Edmonton's Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) at the Edmonton Soccer Dome. The team will head out of Manitoba on Monday morning, with final practices and the CCAA Awards Banquet held on Tuesday prior to games kicking off on Wednesday. The Blazers have a tough draw ahead of them, as their first round match pits them against the 2025 CCAA Champions Humber Hawks. Nevertheless, the team is set on creating more history this year, after their 7th place finish in 2025 was the first regulation win by a Manitoba team at a CCAA soccer championship.
