2022 Blazers Athletics Trailblazer Award Winner Gode Katembo has a lot going on both on and off the field, and has leveraged his passion for the game of soccer into several community initiatives that aim to create a safe space for athletes to build skills and compete at the game they love.  The Trailblazer award is an annual award given to a CMU student-athlete that sacrifices their time and energy on puruits in the community that make a better world for everyone.

Men's Soccer Looks to Excel with the Addition of Elite Talent Newman

The CMU Men's Soccer program is very pleased to announce the commitment of Landon Newman for the 2022-23 MCAC season. The College Beliveau product comes to CMU by way of the Elite & Excel Sports Management agency.

Following MCAC Finals appearances in both outdoor soccer back in October, as well as futsal this past March, Blazers men's soccer is looking ahead to the 2022-23 season and it's next recruiting class to give the team the boost it needs to become champions once again.  That recruiting class starts with the signing of local Winnipeg talent Landon Newman, a quick and powerful winger with a nose for the goal.

CMU Closes Out the MCAC Season with a Final Championships Appearance

The MCAC wrapped up its final Championship weekend on Sunday with the Copa de la Paz Futsal trophies awarded at host Universite de Saint-Boniface after a full day of semi-finals and finals action.  Blazers men's futsal contended for the cup and a chance to defend their 2020 title, but fell short in the final, relinquishing the championship to the Brandon Bobcats.

Daniel McIntyre-Ridd: October's Zueike Male Athlete of the Month

Congratulations to Daniel McIntyre-Ridd of Men's Soccer on being selected the CMU Zueike Male Athlete of the Month for October. The sixth-year captain of the Blazers was instrumental on the back end during CMU's Cinderella story run during the MCAC Soccer Championships this past weekend.

Since he joined the Blazers for his first season back in 2016, McIntyre-Ridd has been a stalwart of the CMU defence, challenging the opposition's top strikers game in and game out.  McIntyre-Ridd had himself another great season this year, captaining the team from the back line, an was particularly on point with his game during the month of October.  Early in the month he was pivotal in the Blazers full-time 0-0 draw with the top team in the standings, Providence Pilots, which was an omen of good things to come for CMU when the two sides matched up again weeks later in the MCAC Soccer Championships semi-finals.  McIntyre-Ridd added a goal in his final home match at the Ralph Cantafio Soccer Complex during a 12-1 blowout of the Assiniboine Community College Cougars.

Blazers Soccer Falls Short of Nationals Berth

The MCAC Soccer Championships may have happened over Halloween weekend this year, but the Blazers men's soccer squad fell one game short of writing their Cinderella story on their quest for the ultimate treat: the opportunity to represent Manitoba at the CCAA National Championships later this month.

This year's editions of CMU soccer teams both entered the championship weekend as the fourth seeds, and heavy underdogs entering Saturday's semi-final matchups with top-seeded St Boniface Rouges on the women's side, and Providence Pilots in the men's division.
