Blazers Women's Soccer Earn Huge Point in Draw with Les Rouges

The Blazers Women's Soccer squad earned their first point in the MCAC season standings this past weekend by playing to a 1-1 draw with the defending champions Universite de Saint-Boniface Rouges.  It was a huge step forward for the team, who were coming off two big losses on opening weekend to start the year.  The result puts the team in the top four of the standings and into playoff position, below Les Rouges and ahead of the Assiniboine Cougars, who the Blazers matchup with this coming Saturday.

Aquino Scores Dos in Blazers Home Opener

Rookie striker Matheus Aquino scored once in each half on Sunday afternoon, as CMU topped the Brandon Bobcats 2-1 to wrap up Week 1 MCAC men's soccer action.

The early stages of the match saw the visitors create most of the attacking chances while CMU absorbed the Bobcats' pressure. Brandon's best chance in the opening half came in the 11th minute on a volley from the foot of Diego Rodriguez. The former MCAC all-conference selection ran onto a lob pass at the edge of the 18-yard box and struck a dipping shot labelled for the top corner only to see his shot equalled by Blazers first-year goalkeeper, Brayden Abbott, at full stretch.

MCAC Gains Entry to National Championships

MCAC Gains Entry to National Championships

It's official! The Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference (MCAC) was unanimously voted to be included in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) National Championships for the 2021-22 seasons and moving forward in the sports of women's and men's soccer, as well as women's and men's volleyball.  The vote occurred at the national governing body's annual general meeting this past week.

Men's Soccer Inks 'Keeper From Northern Region

The CMU Men's Soccer program has looked north to secure the team's goalkeeping needs for the 2021 MCAC season, signing Hapnot Collegiate's Brayden Abbott.

Pursuing soccer in the north takes a serious commitment, so to add to the impact that his regional coaches have had on his development, the Flin Flonner spent the summer of 2020 in Winnipeg under the focussed attention of the E&E Sports Management team.
