Men's Futsal Lifts Their First Copa de la Paz On Home Court

It has been five seasons since a CMU Blazers varsity team has tasted the glory of a conference championship but on Sunday afternoon the CMU Men's Futsal team put an end to the drought, and for the first time the trophy that recognizes the top men's futsal team in the MCAC, the Copa de la Paz, will be displayed on a campus other than the University of St-Boniface.

Futsal Community Gathers This Weekend To Crown MCAC's Copa Champions

The Copa de la Paz began as a one weekend tournament in 2012 and has quickly grown into a complex four stage competition endorsed by the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference and the Manitoba Soccer Association.

"The sport provides our players with a very technically-focused form of indoor soccer that is rapidly growing in popularity around the globe," said Russell Willms, who began the tournament with the one weekend format. "Everyone who participated was so engaged with the sport and wanted to host their own weekend tournament so we simply decided to join together and create an extended round-robin format with a final round championship."

Winman Middle Crosses Town to Join Blazers Men's Volleyball Program

The Men's Volleyball Team is pleased to announce the commitment of their second recruit of 2015-16, Winman Volleyball Club product John Nieckarz. The 6'4 middle spent the 2014-15 season as a red shirt with the University of Manitoba Bisons of Canada West and is looking forward to suiting up in uniform next season with the Blazers.

Men's Volleyball Makes Impact With First Recruit of 2015-16

The CMU Men's Volleyball Team is very happy to announce the commitment of Dakota Collegiate's Makoy Penner. The versatile 6'4 attacker featured at left side and at middle in the Dakota rotation during his high school career, helping the Lancers to a 'AAAA' quarter-finals appearance in 2013 and 2014.

"I am extremely excited to have Makoy on board," said head coach Don Dulder, "He is a very intelligent player who will be versatile to our team and comes from one of the province's top AAAA programs."

Women's Soccer Scores Talented Striker To Begin Their 2015 Recruitment

The CMU Women's Soccer Team is pleased to announce the commitment of Northland Parkway Collegiate striker Esther Schwartzkopf for the 2015-16 MCAC Soccer season.

Schwartzkopf was selected the 2014 MHSAA Rural Provincial Most Valuable Player last October when she captained her high school to a Zone Championship en route to a Provincial Girls Championship in her home town of Winkler.
