Spartans Duo, Dickson and Sharpe Commit to CMU Women's Basketball
As Women's Basketball begins to focus their attention on a new challenge south of the border for the 2016-17 season, head coach Joe Di Curzio continues to add strong, athletic recruits to the Blazers roster. The two most recent additions are former teammates with WMBA Rising Stars team Spartans, Remy Dickson (left) and Jade Sharpe (right).

After qualifying for their first conference championship in six years last season, the CMU Men's Soccer team is in the recruiting stages of their quest of taking the 2016 season one step further. One piece of that puzzle will be newly signed Garden Valley Collegiate striker, Waldemar Preis.
Preis helped the Zodiacs to a second-place finish at the 2015 Manitoba High School Rural Provincial Soccer Championships last October, leading his team with 12 goals scored and claiming their second zone championship in the process. Garden Valley has won two zone championships during Preis' run with the team, 2013 and 2015.

The squad for the 2016-17 Men's Volleyball team continues to take shape for the upcoming Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference campaign as the Blazers announced the commitment of former Springs Christian Academy outside hitter Jordan Franks. The 6'1 attacker helped the Eagles to the MHSAA 'AAA' Provincial finals in each of his three seasons with the varsity boys team and in addition boasts a lengthy history of success in the club volleyball scene.

The CMU Blazers Men's and Women's Basketball teams will be adding a new affiliation to their conference commitments and schedule for 2016-17. CMU Athletics would like to announce that beginning this season, the Blazers will be competing in both their provincial college and university conference, the MCAC, and will begin play in the Northern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (NIAC).

Recruitment continues on the CMU Women's Basketball front as the Blazers announce the signing of 2015 and 2016 Manitoba High School 'AAA' Girls Provincial Champion, Caitlin Fennell. The 5'11 R.D. Parker graduate averaged 18 points and 12 rebounds in her Grade 12 year, earning selection to the Basketball Manitoba Graduating All-star Game earlier this year.
