Route 90 Collision At The Loewen Sees Men's Basketball Upset Rebels

It's not how the game starts, but how it finishes. That was the story on Saturday night as Men's Basketball overcame a first half deficit to the undefeated Red River College, handing the Rebels their first loss of the season and evening the annual Route 90 Showdown series with the Rebels.
Trailing by 9 at the end of the first quarter and 7 at halftime, the Rebels led by as many as 13 midway through the third quarter before momentum began to shift in favour of CMU. Rookie guard Jaden Harms (pictured) tied the game 56-56 with 3:45 left in the third to cap a 13-2 run for the Blazers and second-year forward Sam Kinsley, who was held out of Friday night's meeting between the two MCAC rivals due to injury, dropped a three-point dagger on the Rebels to give CMU their first lead of the game, 59-56.

Despite conceding two goals early in the first half, Men's Futsal calmed their nerves and surprised the defending Copa de la Paz Champions to escape St-Boniface with three points, edging USB 5-4 in MCAC action on Sunday.
Trailing 2-0, the Blazers got themselves on the scoreboard when second-year defender Aidan Beckingham (pictured) rifled a ball past Samir Achour, bringing CMU back into the match. Les Rouges renewed their two goal advantage moments later but it was Beckingham again whose left foot made it 3-2 when he slid in to converted from a well-orchestrated cornerkick.

The Oak Hills Wolfpack are next on the NIAC schedule for a CMU Men's Basketball team who returned home from Cass Lake, Minnesota on Sunday ailing from two road losses at the hands of the Leech Lake Lakers to start 2017.
Despite holding a lead through the first half, CMU saw the Lakers mount a game-winning comeback. Leech Lake tied the game late in regulation, 77-77, and stole the win away from the Blazers in overtime. The home team's momentum carried into Sunday's rubber match as the Lakers went on to entertain their home crowd to the tune of a 79-68 win, sending CMU home with two losses.

Fresh off a road trip into Alberta to start the New Year, Women's Volleyball is thrilled to introduce their first recruit of the 2017-18 season; two-time MHSAA 'AAA' Provinicial Allstar Renee Desroches.
The Dauphin Regional setter led the Clippers to zone banners in 2015 and 2016, winning the AAA Varsity Girls Provincial Championship in 2015 and finishing second in 2016. Desroches consistently strong performances earned her selection to the 2016 Manitoba Volleyball A-AAA Graduating Allstar Game played at St. Paul's High School in December.

After winning their second consecutive Western Canadian Open Championship and posting a conference high 8-2 record through the first half of the 2016-17 MCAC season, Men's Volleyball are about to tackle the Alberta Collegiate Athletics Conference for three interconference matches before they reintroduce themselves to an MCAC court for the final half of their regular season campaign.
