Women's Basketball Inks Talented Reivers Point Guard For 2017-18

CMU Women's Basketball is very happy to announce the commitment of Kildonan East's Aimee Garland for the 2017-18 MCAC and NIAC seasons. The speedy 5'4 point guard averaged more than 18 points per game in her Grade 12 year and led the Reivers to their first KPAC Girls Basketball Zone Banner since 1988.

"Aimee was one of the best high school guards in Manitoba this year and we are excited that she has decided to play for CMU," said head coach Joe Di Curzio, "she has the ability to see the court well and deliver great passes to teammates and she is confident to take the ball to the basket off the dribble and hit her shot from outside."

Women's Soccer Scores Big By Signing Former Bisons' Striker Camille Plett

After three seasons with the Manitoba Bisons in USports (formerly CIS), Camille Plett has decided to end her university soccer career in the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference. The graduate of Winnipeg's Fort Richmond Collegiate signed her Letter of Intent in February to compete for the CMU Blazers.

"Camille will fit in perfectly with the style of play we want to play," said CMU co-head coach and a former University of Manitoba Bison herself, Lianna Bestvater, "Camille can run past defenders and can hammer the ball on goal. She has a very high level of commitment and she works hard all the time. She will make an immediate impact on MCAC soccer and on our team."

He may be new to the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference, but head coach Chris Parenteau have made winning the norm for Men's Futsal. With the round-robin portion of the 2017 Copa de la Paz now complete, Parenteau and the Blazers have amassed a record of 6 wins to go with 3 draws and only one defeat; good for first place and the top seed as CMU prepares to challenge for the MCAC Championship that approaches this weekend in Otterburne, Manitoba at Providence University College.

Women's Basketball Announces Commitment Of Vincent Massey Forward

As March Madness falls on the Manitoba High School Athletic Assocation, CMU Women's Basketball announced the commitment of Julia Schatkowsky of the #1 ranked Vincent Massey Trojans for the 2017-18 MCAC and NIAC seasons.

The long, 6'0 forward helped her south-Winnipeg high school grab the top seed in the upcoming Provincial Championships by defeating the 2016 Provincial Champion Sisler Spartans 58-48 last Friday night in the Winnipeg Tier 1 'AAAA' Girls Zone Final.
