Blazers And Rebels Split Points In Passionate Scoreless Women's Soccer Draw

Women's Soccer kicked off their 2017 MCAC campaign on Sunday evening with a difficult Week 1 match-up with last season's Championship Runner's Up; Red River Rebels. Despite the goalless scoreline the match didn't disappoint the spectators with it's level of excitment.
The first big chance of the match came early when Esther Schwarzkopf led Camille Plett in behind the Red River defense and the debutant slid a pass in to the right boot of Janelle Wride only to have her attempt blocked en route to goal.

Men's Basketball is very happy to announce the commitment of Fort Richmond Collegiate's Kniel Sullera for the 2017-18 MCAC and NIAC seasons. The dynamic scorer helped the Centurions to back to back Final Four appearances in the Manitoba High School 'AAAA' Provincials and averaged 18 points and 13 rebound in his Grade 12 season.

The last time that Evelyn Kampen was representing her province it was 2006 and the former River East Kodiak left-side was competing for Manitoba in the Western Canada Games. Fast forward to 2017, and the third-year CMU Women's Volleyball head coach is right back at it but in a very different role, assistant coaching with Manitoba's under-18 Canada Summer Games Team who are scheduled to take the court for the first time on August 7th in Pool D action against Team Yukon.

Winnipeg is set to officially welcome the 2017 Canada Summer Games this Friday when the eyes of the country will be focused on the Bell MTS Place. Behind the scenes, CMU student-athlete Thomas Friesen has been quietly making his mark on this high profile national event.
The Communications and Media major had just completed his fourth year of study at CMU and had plans to return for his final year of university sports eligibility as both a Men's Volleyball libero and Men's Soccer goalkeeper, when the Canada Summer Games came calling.

Men's Soccer is excited to announce the commitment of former National Training Centre (NTC) and UNBC midfielder/striker Greg Meconse for the 2017 MCAC Season.
"Greg is a solid all-around addition," said head coach Russell Willms who enters his tenth season with the program, "his technical ability is at a top-level, his work rate is very high and he clearly enjoys training and playing the game. He will be a key component of our team and will fit in extremely well with our group of players."
