CMU did not disappoint on Wednesday night in their regular season home opener, pounding the visiting Providence Pilots in straight sets (25-7, 25-23, 25-16) to open the new campaign on top, much to the delight of a full house in the Loewen Athletic Centre.
Renee Desroches held the reigns for the Blazers offense and spread out her arsenal perfectly in the opening set. There was nothing CMU could do but watch on Tuesday evening as the Brandon Bobcats locked up fourth-place and the final playoff position for this weekend's MCAC Women's Soccer Championships on Tuesday evening. The Bobcats leapfrogged the Blazers on the back of a 2-1 victory over the winless Assiniboine Cougars.
