Congratulations to Kieran Baydock of Men's Soccer and Men's Basketball on being selected the CMU Lionheart Sports Male Athlete of the Month for October. A rare dual-sport athlete with the Blazers, Baydock proved in 2018-19 that he was not a one-trick pony by lacing up his soccer boots in the fall and high tops in the winter. With the 2019 MCAC Men's Volleyball Championship Final still fresh in the mind of the Blazers, CMU evened things up with the Providence Pilots on Wednesday night, soundly defeating the now defending champions in straight sets, 25-16, 25-19, 25-21.
The Blazers showed their prowess at the net in the opening set led by four-year middle Jack Tyrrell. Tyrrell helped his team's cause from the service line too, scoring 2 aces, all part of a 25-16 set win and a 1-0 advantage in the best of five home opener.

CMU did not disappoint on Wednesday night in their regular season home opener, pounding the visiting Providence Pilots in straight sets (25-7, 25-23, 25-16) to open the new campaign on top, much to the delight of a full house in the Loewen Athletic Centre.
Renee Desroches held the reigns for the Blazers offense and spread out her arsenal perfectly in the opening set. Outside hitters Sadie McTavish, Jana Klassen and Jess Edel each counted 2 kills while the third-year setter scored 2 herself, the result of setter-dumps. From the service line, McTavish held a hot hand for the hosts. The third-year transfer from the University of Winnipeg challenged the Pilots defenders with her accurate spin-serve, finding the court with 3 aces.
