Youngest-Ever Signing; Petruskavich Kicks On With CMU Women's Soccer

With the inaugural season as full members of the CCAA now one year away, Kasey Petruskavich has become the first and youngest athlete ever to sign their letter of intent to play for CMU, committing to suit up for the Blazers Women's Soccer team in 2021. A Grade 11 student from Winnipeg's Westwood Collegiate, Petruskavich has become very used to winning matches with her Charleswood club team and hopes to bring that winning mentality with her when she steps on the pitch with CMU.

Blazers Add Size To Lineup With River East's Brenton

After a year away from competitive basketball, former River East Kodiak Matt Brenton recently made his commitment to return to the court for the 2020-21 season with the CMU Blazers.

Standing at a true 6'5, Brenton will fill a key void for the Blazers, who fielded a rather undersized roster in 2019-20. On top of that, the newest signee is a strong rim-protector and rebounder who has the ability to run the floor and finish. "Matt is a long, athletic player who is just starting to bloom," said CMU head coach Scott Martin, who has been working at getting Brenton to the Blazers since last summer. "He has all the tools to be a great player and the potential to be a key contributor for us."

Late Start Doesn't Slow New Women's Soccer Recruit

Tai Linklater is a fast learner. That is certainly the case when it comes to her development on the soccer field. The soon-to-be W.C. Miller graduate only started playing the 11 a-side game in Grade 11 and despite the short length of season for rural high school athletes, the defender helped her team to a fourth place finish in the 2019 Provincials and scored recognition as a Provincial All-star.

Sturgeon Heights Fedak Signs With Men's Basketball

It wil be a reunion of sorts for Jesse Fedak and CMU head coach Scott Martin, who combined as part of the Team Manitoba Provincial u17 boys program last summer. Though the 6'4 forward was unable to complete the senior year of his high school campaign with top-ranked Sturgeon Heights this season, Fedak helped his Huskies to the 2020 Zone Championship and ended his career with a selection to the 'AAAA' Boys Graduating All-star team at the Basketball Manitoba Awards earlier this month.
