Congratulations to Daniel Cameron of Blazers Men's Basketball on being selected the CMU Zueike Male Athlete of the Month for November. The senior forward is back to his usual dominant form, as the Blazers look to defend their MCAC title in 2025/2026.

A perennial all-conference selection both North and South of the border, Cameron is also the reigning MCAC Player of the Year, and hopes to run it back with the team again this year. Things are looking good so far for the team, with a 4-0 start in MCAC play, and 6-0 record to start the NIAC season. With veteran forward Andrew Bruin likely out for the remainder of the season, the Blazers will be leaning on Cameron more than ever to dominate the boards.

Sitting first in the MCAC in rebounds per game, and with a wide lead already in the total rebounds category, Cameron is a double-double machine, and a picture of consistency on the court. Cameron took home the MCAC Player of the Game honours from the team's first official league match on November 14, and then MCAC Male Athlete of the Week following their first weekend of play on 19 total points and 28 total rebounds.

Having been the face of the team, and the key player on so many occasions throughout his college career, it's no wonder Cameron's game has continued to mature, but it has also led to a more balanced attack for the Blazers, as the team can score from inside the paint and from the perimeter. Men's Basketball head coach Scott Martin explained the impact his big man has on the team's success, stating "Daniel is the heart and soul of this team. Statistically he leads the league in rebounding and we can consistently count on him for double digits in scoring and rebounding. It's hard to put into words how dominant a force he has been in the league over his four years with the team."

The Blazers currently sit atop the MCAC standings at 4-0, with Providence and St Boniface both trailing with their final weekend of first half play coming up. At the end of the regular season schedule, the top team in the standings earns the right to host the second place program in a winner-take-all final for the provincial championship set for February 15th. The Blazers are also hoping to avenge their NIAC Finals loss last season and do what no men's basketball team has done at CMU thus far and earn a NIAC Championship title. That tournament runs February 19-21 in Plymouth, MN.
