Blazers Women's Volleyball Get Setup for 2023/24 with Addition of Stewner
The CMU Women's Volleyball program is very pleased to announce the commitment of Chelsea Stewner for the 2023/24 MCAC season. The Sturgeon Heights Collegiate and Bandits Volleyball Club product will add some more top-level talent at the setter position for the Blazers.
Stewner will continue her volleyball journey at CMU after a very successful high school season, when she and her Sturgeon Heights Huskies teammates won the MHSAA "AAAA" Varsity Girls Provincials in December, a thrilling five-set victory that saw the team come back from being down 0-2 to triumph over the Vincent Massey Trojans at the University of Manitoba's IGAC. Her performance during the championships earned Stewner Provincial All-Star recognition, to go along with a Graduation All-Star nomination. The co-captain of the Huskies also landed in the Free Press Top 10 in Manitoba for 2022, which is a testament to both the talent and leadership abilities she will be bringing to her new squad.

Brooklyn De Jong: February's Zueike Female Athlete of the Month
Congratulations to Brooklyn De Jong of Women's Volleyball on being selected the CMU Zueike Female Athlete of the Month for February. The third year middle was a consistent force in the Blazers' front court during the home stretch of the season.
Although the season has now wrapped up, Blazers Women's Volleyball had a strong finish to their regular season with wins in two of their final three league games, including a straight-sets victory over the eventual MCAC Champions St Boniface Les Rouges. The team won nine sets and lost only six throughout their regular season games in February and their most veteran player and captain Brooklyn De Jong was a big part of that late-season success.

Blazers wrap up their 2022/23 seasons
With MCAC and NIAC Championships all completed, the dust has finally settled on the 2022/23 varsity seasons, which gives us reason to take a look at some highlights of the past six months.
Blazers soccer started the season in September as always, and both teams came out of the gate a bit slowly waiting until their first matchups with the Assiniboine Community College Cougars in week two to pick up points on the season.

Blazers Teams Getting Set for Championships
It's another busy weekend for Blazers Athletics as championship season begins for basketball while futsal and volleyball look to finish their seasons strong.
Canadian Mennonite University's Loewen Athletic Centre will be the location for the upcoming 2022/23 MCAC Basketball Championships, which start on Friday night with semi-finals set for 6:00 and 8:00 ahead of the main event on Sunday night.

No Bad Luck for Blazers on Friday the 13th
The first weekend back in MCAC league play may have started off on Friday the Thirteenth, but it was certainly no day for bad luck for the Blazers. Four wins on Friday night, followed by another four on Saturday had the Blazers take eight of a possible ten games on the weekend slate.
In their first home action since early December, the Blazers volleyball squads hosted Les Rouges at the Loewen as the CCAA marquee matchup for Manitoba and the green and gold didn't dissappoint. Coming off a third place finish at the Niagara Knights Invitational in Southern Ontario, the Blazers men came out firing on all cylinders, taking the first set by a 25-15 scoreline, then the second 25-17 before a third and final tight 25-23 game that gave the Blazers the win. CMU managed to spread the offence around throughout the match, but Duncan Petrie led all players with nine kills from the right side, and added a game-high three aces as well.
