Blazers MBB Hoping Vancouver Product Osmack will Make it Rain in the 'Peg
The CMU Men's Basketball program is very pleased to announce the commitment of Caden Osmack for the 2024-25 MCAC and NIAC seasons. The King George Secondary product from Vancouver, BC will bring his West Coast game to the Prairies this year.
The second signing of the offseason for Blazers Men's Basketball, Caden Osmack is in fact the second Caden to join the team this summer after coach Scott Martin recruited point guard Caden Tugade earlier in the break. Osmack will bring some height to the guard position, who at 6'2" is comfortable both at the point and as a shooting guard. The King George Secondary graduate comes out of a powerhouse Vancouver school, claiming the Vancouver City Championship, as well as the lower mainland zone title before falling just short in the British Columbia Provincial high school championships finals during his time as a Dragon. A Vancouver City All-Star in his junior year, Osmack also brought home hardware from numerous tournaments throughout his high school career.
A late start to basketball meant Osmack had a steep learning curve to catch up to his peers, but his athleticsm from playing a range of different sports helped him learn and excel at the game at a rapid pace. After graduating high school Osmack had a brief period when he left the game, but picked it up again with the intent of making it to the next level when he realized with a bit of hard work and determination he could realize his dream. A Pyschology and history student, Osmack's studies have him on track for an education degree, but his dream career would be to translate his post-secondary play into a professional basketball coaching position after graduating. He is excited to have the opportunity to play at the college level, as well as to travel to the US for a different basketball experience, and most of all just the chance to work hard and to continue to improve and increase his basketball knowledge.
Blazers Men's Basketball head coach Scott Martin is hopeful his newest recruit will continue his rise up the basketball ranks, and bring a little taste of the West Coast to Manitoba noting "Caden played high school ball for British Columbia AA power Vancouver King George Dragons. An intelligent perimeter player at point or shooting guard, he's a strong 3-point shooter. I'm excited for Caden to bring some Vancouver weather to Winnipeg, making it rain threes." Before he gets to see the competition here in the middle province, Osmack will head West with his new teammates on a Southern Alberta swing to matchup with the ACAC's Briercrest Clippers and Medicine Hat Rattlers in pre-season action this coming September.
The Blazers Men's Basketball program captured their first MCAC title since 2017 this past March, and a revamped NIAC and MCAC schedule that sees the St Boniface Rouges enter the American conference looks to make for another exciting campaign both here in Manitoba as well as in the Northern United States as the team looks to defend their Manitoba title and challenge for a NIAC Championship banner in 2025.
