Third Vincent Massey Viking Joins CMU Men's Volleyball Program

Men's Volleyball is very happy to announce the addition of Vincent Massey High School's Josh Werbiski for the 2019-20 MCAC season. The 6'4 outside hitter will be the third in a trio of Vikings graduates to suit up for the Blazers next season joining the likes of fellow Brandonites, right side Brock Carmichael and libero Daniel Lysack.

Werbiski ended his high school volleyball career in style, winning the Brandon City Championships after tournament wins at Brandon University and the Vikings' home tournament. He would go on to received an honourable mention recognition for the 2018 Manitoba High School Graduating All-star team.

"First and foremost, Josh is a very coachable player who is respectful and intuitive," said Vincent Massey Head Coach Dan McMillan. "He is very mentally tough, has a high volleyball IQ and has been our most consistent attacker, with a high kill percentage and minimal errors. At 6'4, Josh is very dominant at the net. He has a high contact point and is a strong blocker."

Werbiski has also performed well as a club athlete with Westman Volleyball Club from the 15u to 17u age categories. As a 16u player, Josh helped Westman to a gold medal performance at the Canadian Club National Championships in Regina.

"Josh is an extremely good attacker who can contribute at both left and right side. He is very versatile," said CMU's Don Dulder. "His height will be a big plus for us at the net. He is a strong guy who can hit hard and accurate - a character guy too who plays hard all the time. I think Josh will be a real asset for our program."
