Congratulations to Oluwanifemi Gbadamosi of Blazers Women's Basketball on being selected the CMU Zueike Female Athlete of the Month for January. The third year forward has been a leader both on and off the court all season, and is looking to help lead her team to another title this February.

Gbadamosi's presence on both ends of the court helped her team to a perfect record in January, consisting of eight wins in a busy schedule that included games against competition from both North and South of the border.  In mid January Gbadamosi notched double-doubles in back-to-back games, first in a 61-50 win over the reigning Northern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (NIAC) Champions Trinity Lions when she registered a team-high 19 rebounds to go along with 14 points, two steals, and two blocks. The following Friday she tallied 17 rebounds, 12 points, one steal, and a block in the Blazers' MCAC win over the St Boniface Rouges.  Gbadamosi's consistent production now has her at or near the top of several MCAC statistical categories including being first in the MCAC in rebounds per game, third in points per game, and top ten in both blocks and steals.

Blazers Women's Basketball head coach Richard Milbourne knows the impact Gbadamosi has on the team, and her importance moving forward into the final month of the season, stating "Nifemi's impact on the team goes far beyond the stats sheet.  Whilst she has been a dominant rebounder, defensive anchor and constant scoring threat, she is also the emotional leader of the team.  Nifemi constantly lifts up her teammates, leads by example in practice and makes everyone around her feel valued."

With only three games remaining on the schedule, all happening this weekend, the Blazers are in good position in both MCAC and NIAC standings. Their matchup this Saturday will be of particular importance as it will serve as a season tie breaker with the Providence Pilots, and the winner will likely take top spot ranking in the league and earn a bye straight to the final.  Saturday's game in Niverville will also count towards NIAC standings, and as in the MCAC rankings, a win for CMU would likely mean top spot in the NIAC rankings and a bye through the first round of the championships bracket. Some more high-level performances by the reigning All-Star Gbadamosi will surely help the program lead the rankings both in Manitoba and the Northern states.
