CMU Soccer Heads To Ontario For ThunderHawk Invitational

The CMU Women's Soccer team will follow the Highway of Heroes east to Thunder Bay on Friday afternoon to compete this weekend in the 2014 Confederation College ThunderHawk Invitational at Chapples Park.

This is the fourth year that the Blazers have attended the tournament on the shores of Lake Superior and after making significant strides in 2013, the team has higher expectations going in to this year's competition.

Men's Basketball Prepares to Host Briercrest Clippers

With Fall Festival just days away, the Blazers Men's Basketball team is putting the final touches on their preparations to host the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference's Briercrest Clippers on Friday night, in what will certainly be an exciting start to a great weekend on campus. The two teams will renew acquiantances in the preseason for a fifth-straight year in a series that has thus far been dominated by the visitors from Caronport.

Milestone Win for Men's Soccer Over Providence

It's been over six years since CMU defeated Providence in Men's Soccer: 12 regular season matches, three playoff matches (including two championship finals) and one preseason friendly have left current CMU Head Coach Russell Willms with a combined record of 0-16 versus the team he co-coached, assistant coached and played for.

That shutout finally came to an end on Saturday afternoon when Ben Wride and Cole Johnson each scored and an set up a goal in a landmark 3-0 away win to begin Week 2 of the season.

Tipping-Off The Season In Support of Cancer Research

The Men's Basketball team is looking forward to taking their first steps on the preseason court this weekend when they tip-off Friday evening at the Ballin' For Cancer Awareness Tournament, taking place at the University of Winnipeg's Duckworth Centre.

The eight-team event is being coordinated by former Brandon Bobcat player and assistant coach, Donovan Gayle, who himself was diagnosed with lukemia at the age of 16. All proceeds from the event will go directly to Cancer Care Manitoba.

Derby Day For CMU Soccer: Providence, Away

Week 2 of the 2014 MCAC Soccer Season sees CMU travel to Otterburne on Saturday afternoon to renew aquaintances dating back to the days CMBC and Providence Bible College, when green battled navy on the pitch in the old Manitoba Christian Colleges Athletic Assocation.

The CMU men are coming off a somewhat disappointing loss to the Red River Rebels in Week 1. The Blazers dominated in both possession and chances, but failed to convert with the game on the line, succumbing on two free-kicks, a moment of miscommunication and a scoreline of 3-2.
