Tipping-Off The Season In Support of Cancer Research

The Men's Basketball team is looking forward to taking their first steps on the preseason court this weekend when they tip-off Friday evening at the Ballin' For Cancer Awareness Tournament, taking place at the University of Winnipeg's Duckworth Centre.

The eight-team event is being coordinated by former Brandon Bobcat player and assistant coach, Donovan Gayle, who himself was diagnosed with lukemia at the age of 16. All proceeds from the event will go directly to Cancer Care Manitoba.

Derby Day For CMU Soccer: Providence, Away

Week 2 of the 2014 MCAC Soccer Season sees CMU travel to Otterburne on Saturday afternoon to renew aquaintances dating back to the days CMBC and Providence Bible College, when green battled navy on the pitch in the old Manitoba Christian Colleges Athletic Assocation.

The CMU men are coming off a somewhat disappointing loss to the Red River Rebels in Week 1. The Blazers dominated in both possession and chances, but failed to convert with the game on the line, succumbing on two free-kicks, a moment of miscommunication and a scoreline of 3-2.

Rivarly Renewed at 2014 MCAC Kickoff Weekend

CMU Women's Soccer are putting the final touches on match preparation for MCAC Kickoff Weekend 2014 when the Blazers host their route 90 rivals, the Red River Rebels on Sunday at 12pm at the Winnipeg Soccer Complex.

The Blazers will field a team with great leadership and athleticism starting at the back with returning defenders Breanna Heinrichs and Kyra Neufeld. The tandem are tireless runners and brave tacklers committed to keeping the ball away from goal. Joining the pair are the determined trio of April Klassen (pictured), Mackenzie Friesen and Jill Beever who will flood the center of the field, with skill in defending at attacking.

Men's Soccer Wrangled By Lakeland Rustlers in Preseason Friendly

Two early goals secured the match for the visiting Lakeland Rustlers, who went on to a 2-0 preseason win on rainy Sunday afternoon at the Winnipeg Soccer Complex.

Stiker Stefan Kucovic opened the scoring for the ACAC-side in the 21st minute, when he latched onto a loose ball in the six-yard box and blasted the ball past CMU goalkeeper Thomas Friesen. Five minutes later, the Rustlers went 2-0 up when three Rustlers countered on an errant pass and midfielder Lewis Isle capitalized past Friesen's outstretch hands.

2014 MCAC Champ Crosses Colours In Women's Volleyball

The CMU Women's Volleyball Team is happy to announce the commitment of outside hitter Edina-lil Preteau for the upcoming 2014-15 MCAC season. Preteau was a member of the University of Winnipeg College Wesmen team that captured their first MCAC Women's Volleyball Championship on the court at the Loewen Athletic Centre last February.
