Men's Basketball Has Chance To Rebound In Weekend Classic

The Blazers outscored their opponents 41-37 through three quarters in Saturday night's home opener at the Loewen Athletic Centre, but lost their shooting confidence and the game in the final 10 minutes when they were blasted 28-12 in the fourth quarter by the University of Winnipeg to eventually fall 65-53 to the College Wesmen in MCAC Men's Basketball.

Papa Murphy's Take 'n' Bake Male Athlete Of The Month - October

Congratulations to Andrew Letkeman of the Men's Soccer Team on being selected the Papa Murphy's Take 'n' Bake CMU Male Athlete of the Month for October.

After winning the Thunderhawk Invitational to close out the month of September, Letkeman and his teammates took seven of a possible fifteen points out of the month of October, highlighted by a 5-0 win over Red River College in their final day of the regular season to qualify the Blazers for the 2014 MCAC Conference Semifinals.

Blazers Take to the Skies in Toronto

The CMU Women's and Men's Volleyball Teams get their final taste of the pre-season this weekend in the Greater Toronto Area where the women will compete in the Wannamaker Invitationa at Sheridan College in Oakville, and the men will take to the court at Seneca College in Markham for the Sting Challenge.

The women will face the Conestoga Condors and the Fleming Knights on Friday, and the Durham Lords and Mohawk Mountaineers in round-robin play before playoffs on Saturday.  The men's team faces Niagara Knights and University of Ottawa Gee Gees on Friday, before finishing round-robin play against Durham on Saturday prior to playoffs.  "I've found this tournament to be a great primer for the MCAC season," says Joshua Ewert, the third-year Assistant Coach on the men's team and former Blazer, "as a player I found it refreshing to get away from the typical league competition; it really forces us to bring up our level of play."
