Men's Volleyball Is Ready To Take On All Challengers In Toronto This Weekend

With five preseason wins under their belt from the MCAC preseason tournament hosted last weekend at Red River College, Men's Volleyball takes their perfect record to the Ontario Colleges Athletic Conference this weekend and the 2016 Seneca Sting Challenge.

CMU took convincing wins over USB, Providence, Red River, ACC and University of Winnipeg to capture their first tournament win in the MCAC and to make themselves the early favourites in their home province. "We were expecting to have a very strong team this season, but we weren't sure how the others would stack up," said Men's Volleyball Assistant Coach, Josh Ewert, "we had good matches with everyone, it just seemed that we have really improved in our ability to close out games and that will help us alot this season."

Critical Point Earned As Women's Soccer Holds On To Playoff Hope

The Brandon Bobcats found the crossbar twice in the second half, but they were not able to find the back of the net as first year goalkeeper Lydia Balsillie kept the clean sheet and her Blazers held on for a scoreless tie on Saturday afternoon at The Ralph Cantafio Soccer Complex.

Powerful striker Bailee Ploshynsky gave the CMU back four all they could handle and three times found a way to get behind the defensive line in the first half, only to have Balsillie snuff out each and every scoring chance. On the other end, CMU created a few chances of their own. Marijka Yashyshyn tried her luck twice from distance in the opening half and the relentless running of Claudia Dueck came close to a Blazer goal in the 40th minute.

High Expectations for Men's Volleyball Season Starts With A Strong Preseason

A confident, veteran group is more than ready to start their 2016-17 preseason and to find out exactly what they are up against when the matches take on meaning later this month for Men's Volleyball.

Two senior members of the rotation, fourth-year setter Jason Friesen and fellow fourth-year left side Joel Kliewer, will lead CMU into the Red River College Invitational this weekend beginning with their opening matches tomorrow night against Les Rouges de USB and later against the 2016 MCAC Champions, Providence Pilots.

Men's Soccer Recruitment Starts Early, Signing Kittle For 2017 Season

The 2017 MCAC Men's Soccer season is some eleven months away, but the roster for next season's CMU squad is already beginning to take shape.

Hapnot Collegiate's Tayler Kittle signed a letter of intent with CMU in July before departing on a year-long Rotary exchange to Germany for 2016-17. The powerful central midfielder comes to CMU from the Brandon-based, Westman FC PR2 where Kittle played from the under-16 to under-18 level. He was also rostered with the Manitoba Provincial U16 boys in the summer of 2014.

All Even For Women's Volleyball Through MCAC Preseason Tournament

The result are in after Women's Volleyball completed their opening weekend of the 2016-17 MCAC preseason and after four matches against conference opponents, the Blazers appear to be right in the thick of things.

On Saturday morning, CMU opened against Les Rouges de USB and put together a solid win; 3 sets to 1. Second-year outside hitter Haley Ginter led the way for the Blazers with 17 kills and veteran opposite Tasha Enns knocked down 7 kills in support scoring from the right side.
