Men's Soccer Squeaks Out Another Point In Injury Time
Sunday, October 8, 2017 @ 6:48 PM |
For the second consecutive Saturday, Men's Soccer were able to recover a draw just before the referee's final whistle. It began on September 30th in Brandon, when a second half goal had the Bobcats expecting a home field win only to see Ryan Jensen spoil the party in the 92nd minute to draw CMU level in a 1-1 tie.
With only 1 win to go with 3 ties and 1 defeat, the Blazers sat on just 6 points after 5 matches entering Saturday's meeting with the first-place USB Rouges. Women's Soccer picked up six more points from matches this weekend, at home to ACC on Friday night and away to Providence on Sunday afternoon, to leap-frog the idle Brandon Bobcats and claim top spot in the MCAC as the teams enter Week 3.

Women's Soccer kicked off their 2017 MCAC campaign on Sunday evening with a difficult Week 1 match-up with last season's Championship Runner's Up; Red River Rebels. Despite the goalless scoreline the match didn't disappoint the spectators with it's level of excitment.
The first big chance of the match came early when Esther Schwarzkopf led Camille Plett in behind the Red River defense and the debutant slid a pass in to the right boot of Janelle Wride only to have her attempt blocked en route to goal.
