Women's Volleyball Welcomes Carberry's Penner As First Recruit Of 2020-21

CMU Athletics is very happy to announce the commitment of Carberry Collegiate's Rachel Penner for the 2020-21 Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference season. The versatile 5'10 multi-sport athlete has starred on her high school's varsity team since Grade 9 at the setter position while playing mostly right side for her club team, Cats Volleyball Club in Brandon.

For The Win! Three Strong Quarters Propel CMU Past Leech Lakers

Isaiah Cole and Seth McKenzie combined for 52 points on Saturday night, as CMU scored their first regular season win of the 2019-20 regular season 97-82 over the Leech Lakers. 

Trailing 19-17 at the end of the first quarter, the visitors appeared to be respond with their own basket each time CMU drew even on the scoreboard. Antonio Brown had a hot hand for the Lakers, scoring a team-high 21 points with all seven made-baskets coming courtesy of the long-ball. Brown would score on 7 of 18 from beyond the arc in a game where both teams would attempt more than 40 shots from 3-point distance.

Undefeated No More; Blazers Top USB To Stay Perfect In 2020

Six sets without a loss has CMU moving up the MCAC Women's Volleyball standings and flirting with .500 for the first time since week two of the 2019-20 regular season. The Blazers did what no other team has done yet this season when they dismantled the USB Rouges in straight sets on Friday night, improving their record to 5-6 and leapfrogging the Providence Pilots into third place.

Apiyo's Record-Setting Return Raises Blazers Over Rebels

Shirliz Apiyo scored 21 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and dropped in a program record, 11 assists on Friday night as CMU topped the Red River Rebels 75-52 in front of a full house in the Loewen Athletic Centre. The win vaulted the Blazers past their Winnipeg-based rivals and into a tie for first place in the eight team NIAC standings, with a record of 6-1.

Carter Hofer: November's Lionheart Sports Male Athlete of the Month

Congratulations to Carter Hofer of Men's Volleyball on being selected CMU's Lionheart Sports Male Athlete of the Month for November. Hofer guided his team to an MCAC best record of 7-1 through the month and was a big part of the Blazers' winning streak that spanned 20-consecutive sets from October 30 to November 25th.
