Blazers Women's Soccer Add to their Attack with Millan
The CMU Women's Soccer program is very pleased to announce the commitment of Juliana Millan for the 2024-25 MCAC season. The Colombian-born forward is excited to get back on the pitch with the Blazers after two years of study at the University of Manitoba.
A graduate of Glenlawn Collegiate in 2022, Millan featured on her varsity Lions team from her grade nine year all the way through to her graduating year, co-captaining the squad for her final two years there. The left-footed striker or left winger was a force to be reckoned with on the attacking side of the ball during the short high school season. A multi-sport athlete, Millan also played volleyball and badminton while at Glenlawn, making her both proficient on the turf as well as the court.
Playing for the BoniVital rec program since her U13 season, Millan has grown up playing soccer, and even got to return to her family's hometown of Bogota in 2021, where futsal is the game of choice in the bustling urban centres. Back here in Canada, her BoniVital squads were champions of the Golden Boy Tournament in consecutive years, and also made the trip to Saskatchewan for some out-of-province competition during her time with the program.
Millan has been at the University of Manitoba the last two years, and is planning to continue her studies here at CMU in the communications and media field. She is excited to get back on the field, and has received a warm welcome and seen good cameraderie on the team in training so far. Women's Soccer head coach Jason Moist is happy to bring Millan back into the competitive soccer fold noting "Juliana is an exciting signing for our program. She is an extremely hard-working, committed player who is left foot dominant and provides a different attacking dimension to our play going forward."
Blazers Women's Soccer last hoisted the provincial trophy in the fall of 2018, and will look to take another step towards capturing another title this coming season. The winner of the Manitoba Collegiate Athletics Conference earns the right to represent the province at the Canadian Collegiate Athletics Association (CCAA) National Championships at the conclusion of the outdoor season, which the Blazers look to accomplish now entering the fourth year that the MCAC has been fully included in the Canada-wide conference. Prior to season play kicking off, the Blazers soccer teams will be heading West once again to Red Deer Polytech for pre-season tilts with some of the top sides in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference.
