Blazers Cook Up New Logo to Cap Off 25th Season

Blazers Athletics is pleased to announce the addition of a new alternate logo to its roster of rebrand assets as a capstone of its historic 25th season as the varsity program for CMU. The image features a fire-breathing dragon perched on top of the Founder's Hall tower, and is an ode to the legacy of the program as a fiercely competitive one, and ties in the Assiniboine Castle as the most recognizable facade of the university.
"We've been incredibly happy with the rebrand put in place for our 25th season," stated Coordinator of Sports Information and Communications, Joshua Ewert, "but we just felt we needed one more asset to really tie everything together in terms of the history, and sense of place." With the Providence Pilots recently rebranding their Pilots program to feature an Otter representing their campus location in Otterburne, MB, as well as the return of the Red River Polytechnic Rebels who have traditionally featured an angry ox in their branding, the Blazers felt the time was right to announce thier own animal symbol to join others in the conference.
Fans that are very attached to the #lovethedove symbolism need not worry, as there is no plan to make a departure from the dove imagery that has been a staple during the time of Director of Athletics Russell Willms. "We feel the dove and the dragon can live together in harmony within our new branding," notes Willms. "We see often in biblical symbolism the lion and the lamb co-existing peacefully here, and so will be the case with the dove and the dragon." As a part of the new symbolism, Willms' title will be changed to Steward of Dragons from the aforementioned Director of Athletics.
Don't expect the new logo to grace any of the teams' uniforms or teamwear for some time, but keep an eye out for fan gear with the new branding as the program rolls out its new logo featuring "Blaze the dragon" in the coming months.
