Winning Streak Continues As Women's Basketball Sweeps Pilots

Make it seven wins in a row for Women's Basketball after the Blazers scored back to back wins on Friday and Saturday night over the Providence Pilots.

On Friday night, a tight first quarter that ended 14-14 erupted into a 63-49 win for the home team after the Blazers outscored Providence 25-13 during the second quarter.

Instrumental in the mammoth second quarter scoring output was rookie forward Julia Schatkowsky who scored 6 of her game high 16 and added three assists during the period. Sophomore guard Jessica Marx-Houndle filled the statsheet as well. Despite scoring just 6 points, the Westwood Collegiate product grabbed 11 rebounds, while handing out 4 assists and blocking 4 shots.

The weekend series shifted to Otterburne on Saturday night where the Blazers continued their up-tempo offensive game, running away with a 59-37 win. Aimee Garland rebounded from a less than impressive shooting night on Friday where she shot 0 of 6 from the floor, with a 6 of 11 night on Saturday. The point guard scored a team high 14 while adding 3 rebounds and 3 assists in the winning effort. Vanessa Millions added 12 points and 7 rebounds in support of the victory.

The Blazers visit Red River on Friday night to close out their first half conference schedule and visit Dakota College in Bottineau on December 2 in an exhibition game just prior to the exam/holiday break. Friday's game will be a big one for the Blazers, as they look to win their eighth consecutive and continue their bragging rights in the Route 90 series with their biggest MCAC rivals.
