The Pita Pit Male Blazer Athlete Of The Month - November

Congratulations to Makoy Penner of the Men's Volleyball Team on being selected The Pita Pit Male Athlete of the Month for November. The 6'4 first-year middle capped off a strong month of play by helping Men's Volleyball to their first Western Canadian Championship last weekend in Swift Current, sweeping through the round-robin and playoffs in perfect form.

In conference action, Penner and the Blazers hold a record of 5-2 going into the holiday break. The Dakota Collegiate graduate leads his team in kill efficiency at 45% and on November 24th powered his team to a triumphant home 3-2 win on a 14 kills performance against the defending champion, Red River Rebels who are currently tied on points with CMU for first place in the conference.

"For a rookie, (Makoy) is bringing a great deal of composure to the floor," noted head coach Don Dulder, "he is one of our leading blockers, he is a terrific team player who is demonstrating leadership and who completely supports his teammates."

Penner and the Blazers will be back in action on home court January 16th when they host the University of St-Boniface Rouges as CMU chase their first MCAC Men's Volleyball Championship Banner.
