Stefan Schuler: September's CMU Blazers Men's Athlete Of The Month

Congratulations to Stefan Schuler of Men's Soccer on being selected the CMU Blazers Athlete of the Month for September. Known primarily as a strong defensive player, the first-year midfielder has flexed his offensive muscles this month, scoring four goals in six matches played.

Schuler scored his first in a 4-0 home win over the ACC Cougars on September 15th and two days later, converted with his head from a free-kick in a 4-1 loss to the Providence Pilots. The following weekend in a series of friendlies with the Thunder Bay Chill, Schuler scored twice in a 3-2 loss on September 24th. Along with those highlights, the graduate of River East Collegiate and product of FC Northwest has been a central piece of the Blazers midfield.

"I knew that Stefan would provide our team with a high work rate, leadership and consistent defending, but the goal production that has come from him this month has been a pleasant surprise for all of us," said head coach Russell Willms.

Schuler and his teammates are gearing up for their biggest tests of the season when they battle the USB Rouges on back to back weekends, beginning this Saturday at St. Vital's Memorial Park. Les Rouges sit in first place after five matches played with an undefeated record while CMU are playing catch-up after a weekend series in Brandon that saw the Blazers come home with only two points.
