Sam Kinsley - January's Recovery Spot Athlete Of The Month

Congratulations to Sam Kinsley of Men's Basketball on being selected the Recovery Spot Male Athete of The Month for January.

With "The Force From The North" in the lineup, CMU posted a record of 5 wins and 2 losses during the month leading the Blazers to a record of 6-5 in the MCAC and 7-3 in the NIAC.

After a loss to the Red River Rebels where Kinsley couldn't be a factor because of an injury, the product of Flin Flon's Hapnot Collegiate Institute returned to the lineup for the second half of the mid-month back to back, to play one of his best games of the season. Kinsley scored 24 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and handed out 6 assists, helping CMU upset the undefeated Rebels with a 88-74 home court win.

"When Sam is on his game, so is the team," said head coach Billy Isaac. Kinsley is the only MCAC player to be averaging a double-double in points and rebounds and finds himself listed in the top four in every major statistical category except steals.

Last weekend in Belcourt, North Dakota, Kinsley scored 24 points on Saturday night and 23 on Sunday to lead the Blazers to two more January wins over Turtle Mountain Community College by scores of 99-89 and 87-79.

Men's Basketball is back on the court on Wednesday night when they host their final MCAC home game of the season against the University of Winnipeg College Wesmen. On Friday and Saturday the Blazers welcome the Trinity Bible College Lions (6-1) from Ellendale, North Dakota who currently sit in first place, just above CMU in the NIAC standings.
