Papa Murphy's Take 'n' Bake Male Athlete Of The Month - October
Congratulations to Andrew Letkeman of the Men's Soccer Team on being selected the Papa Murphy's Take 'n' Bake CMU Male Athlete of the Month for October.
After winning the Thunderhawk Invitational to close out the month of September, Letkeman and his teammates took seven of a possible fifteen points out of the month of October, highlighted by a 5-0 win over Red River College in their final day of the regular season to qualify the Blazers for the 2014 MCAC Conference Semifinals.
Letkeman scored goals against Brandon University and a pair in the critical win over the Rebels. "Andrew loves be around the ball and to run at defenders and it was very evident this month in his play," said head coach Russell Willms, "his quickness causes alot of problems for defenders and very few can keep up with his constant running and his effort to get on the ball."
Trailing 2-0 in the conference semi-final, Letkeman was the CMU player who finally broke through the USB defence to cut the lead to 2-1, helping to earn the third-year graduate of Steinbach Regional, CMU's Player of the Game honours. Letkeman was also one of three Blazers selected by the conference coaches to the 2014 All-Conference Men's Soccer Team.
