Men's Soccer Links With Miles Mac Striker To Make Added-Time Signing

Men's Soccer is very happy to announce the commitment of Winnipeg Phoenix product Stan Pankiewicz, a 2019 graduate of Miles Mac Collegiate, as a late signing for the fast approaching 2019 MCAC season that kicks off for the Blazers on September 7th.

The 6'1 attacker grew up through north-east Winnipeg's Phoenix Soccer Club, completing his time at the end of the 2017 season after advanced to the MSA Cup final as well as 2017 WYSA Cambrian Cup at the under-18 PR1 level.

This spring, Pankiewicz helped his high school to the 2019 Manitoba High School Urban Provincial Championships while leading the Buckeyes in goal-scoring in his graduating year at Miles Mac.

"I'm looking forward to seeing Stan in uniform with us this year," said Anderson Pereira, who led the Blazers to their first championship since 2005 as a rookie head coach last season. "He is a calm and composed player when he is on the ball and has lots of potential to provide a big central target for us attacking in open play and from corner-kick and free-kick situations."

As a senior player since 2018, Pankiewicz spent the summer with Manitoba Major Soccer League Division 2 club FC Russia and spent time training with Granite FC this summer, before departing to spend the remainder of his summer in Russia.

Pankiewicz and the Blazers kickoff with the Providence Pilots at the Ralph Cantafio Soccer Complex next Saturday at 1:00pm before travelling to Alberta on September 14th and 15th for non-conference friendlies against the Medicine Hat Rattlers and Lethbridge Kodiaks as part of their CCAA commitments.
