McIntyre-Ridd Prepares To Represent Manitoba At The 2016 Nationals

After scoring two goals on Sunday afternoon as part of CMU's 4-0 victory over the ACC Cougars in Brandon, rookie defender Daniel McIntyre-Ridd is preparing to represent Manitoba this week with the Bonivital Under-18 Boys at the 2016 SportChek Canadian National Soccer Championships in Vaughan, Ontario.

McIntyre-Ridd's PR1 youth team qualified for the National Championships in mid-August after defeating Winnipeg's Phoenix SC 2-1 in the U18 boys MSA Cup Final. Bonivital SC will tackle British Columbia's Coquitlam Metro Ford on Wednesday morning to begin their competition in Group B. Regina FC (Saskatchewan), Foothills FC (Alberta) and Halifax City (Nova Scotia) make up the rest of the group.

"We'll certainly miss having Daniel at training this week and for this weekend's conference match, but we wish him and his teammates all the best and we look forward to streaming the matches to follow Bonivital's tournament," said McIntyre-Ridd's university coach, Russell Willms.

Action from the 2016 National Championships can be viewed live on SportsCanada TV through the Soccer Canada website.  http://www.canadasoccer.com/u-18-cup-s15494

The Blazers are back in MCAC action this Saturday afternoon, without the services of their first-year defender, when they host the Brandon Bobcats at the Ralph Cantafio Soccer Complex. In their first meeting of the season, BU's counter-attack struck for four goals part of a 4-1 win for the Westman squad. The focus for CMU will be to stay organized at the back and be aware of their oppositions treats going forward. The action begins at 2:00 pm.
