Cole Johnson - October's Recovery Spot Male Athlete Of The Month

Congratulations to Cole Johnson of Men's Soccer on being selected The Recovery Spot Male Athlete Of The Month for October.

After a pre-match ceremony to honour the final home game for Johnson and fellow fifth-years Nick Czehryn and Andrew Letkeman, Johnson finished his MCAC career in style, heading in a goal for his team late in the first half to give the Blazers a 1-0 lead over the Providence Pilots.

As his team stuggled with injuries through the month of October, Johnson became a critical piece in CMU's starting eleven and rarely stayed put in one position for the duration of a game. "It became necessary with our injuries this month to use Cole in alot of different ways," said head coach Russell Willms, "he was our master key. We plugged him in to any area we felt vulnerable and he was able to consistently do a great job in the way we were trying to play."

The MCAC recognized Johnson for his outstanding play this season by voting him to the 2016 All-Conference Team for the fourth time in five years.

CMU finished the regular season standing in third place with a record of 5-4-1 to advance to the 2016 MCAC Men's Soccer Championship Final Fours but fell 2-0 in their semi-final to the #2 Red River Rebels on Saturday afternoon.
