With plenty of options to choose from, the CMU Men's Volleyball program is very happy to have the commitment of Calgary Christian's Levi Klassen for the 2018-19 MCAC season. The backrow specialist was one of two 18u boys from the Calgary Canuck Volleyball Club to wrap up their club career be receiving the Saxton Scholarship, awarded to a club player who has excelled in academic average, community service and on-court performance during their years of service.
"Levi has a very extensive volleyball resume and is versatile to provide us with depth at both the libero and setter positions," said head coach Don Dulder. "He is a very intelligent volleyball player who will bring passion and leadership to our team."
Klassen has been a key figure in a very strong Calgary Canuck Dinos 18u club team. A now seven-year veteran of the club, Klassen was part of a 2017 team that placed second at Best of the West and finished fifth at the 2017 Club National Championships (Tier 1/Division 1) all after winning Gold at the Alberta Provincial 18u Boys Volleyball Championship.
In his senior year of high school, Klassen captained Calgary Christian to a third-place finish in the Calgary Independent School's (CISAA) Championships where he took on the role of setter.
Recently selected as a recipient of the CMU Leadership Scholarship for 2018-19, Klassen will follow his sisters Danielle (2012-16) and Jana (2017-present) onto the volleyball court at the Loewen Athletic Centre as the third Klassen sibling to play for the Blazers.
