Anders Receives Team Canada Selection For Upcoming FIBA 3x3 Qualifier

Basketball Canada announced earlier this week that CMU men's basketball alumni Wyatt Anders was one of four Canadians selected to represent their country this weekend in Puerto Rico at the FIBA 3x3 qualifier event, with the winner of the eight team tournament advancing to the 2019 FIBA 3x3 World Cup in Amsterdam later this summer. Also included in the Basketball Canada roster announcement was Anders' Team Acceleration Performance teammate Jelane Pryce along with Michael Linklater and Bikramjit Gill.

Anders spent two seasons with the Blazers setting new program records for points (47) and rebounds in a game (26) during the 2011-12 season. In September 2012, the 6'7 forward transfered his eligibility to the University of Manitoba to continue his collegiate basketball playing career with the Bisons in USports where he further developed into an elite post player in the Canada-West conference.

Anders would go on to play briefly with the Cape Breton Highlanders of the National Basketball League of Canada (NBL) before returning to Winnipeg to complete his Bachelor of Education degree and completed his teaching practicum under former CMU men's basketball head coach Jon Wolfe at Glenlawn Collegiate.

Both Anders and Pryce are veterans of the FIBA 3x3 World Circuit. As part of Team Acceleration Performance, the two have spent many years touring globally, which helped lead to their selection to represent Canada this weekend. Beginning in 2020, 3x3 Basketball will become fully recognized as an Olympic sport and be a highlight of the upcoming Tokyo Games next summer.
