2014 MCAC Champ Crosses Colours In Women's Volleyball

The CMU Women's Volleyball Team is happy to announce the commitment of outside hitter Edina-lil Preteau for the upcoming 2014-15 MCAC season. Preteau was a member of the University of Winnipeg College Wesmen team that captured their first MCAC Women's Volleyball Championship on the court at the Loewen Athletic Centre last February.

Preteau graduated from Mennonite Collegiate Institute in 2013 and where she played alongside 2013-14 CMU Women's Volleyball players Mackenzie Friesen and Jozanna and Rayzanna Rempel in her grade 9, 10 and 11 years.

The 5'7 outside hitter has also found a way to get herself involved in volleyball coaching at a young age. Preteau met her new Head Coach, Eku Malcolm, while he was coaching the u17 Winman girls and Preteau was coaching with the u17 Winnipeg Fury Blue this spring. Preteau helped Fury to a third-place finish in Division 3 Nationals that weekend in Edmonton.

"Edina is a very driven player and we hope that she can bring some of the success that she had last season with the College Wesmen," says Malcolm, "having coached at the u17 level, Edina brings great leadership and understanding of the game to us as well as an effective serving game that we hope will help us challenge for top-spot in MCAC this season."

The CMU Women's Volleyball team will also be hosting open tryouts during Orientation Week, September 2nd and 4th from 6 - 8 PM. For a complete list of CMU Varsity Open Tryout times, visit Page 6 of the Go Guide https://www.cmu.ca/docs/studentlife/CMU_GO_Guide_2014.pdf
